Cavour (CVH-550) is the new Italian aircraft carrier of the Italian Naval Force launched in 2009. It is the result of a joint project of the Naval Armaments (NAVARM) and Fincantieri, started November 2000. Fincantieri laid down Cavour on the 17th of July 2001 in the shipyard at Riva Trigoso near Genoa. The ship of nearly 30,000 tons, because of its size, is being built in two separate sections and welded later. In particular, the forward part has been built at the shipyards of Muggiano (SP) and while the central and aft in Riva Trigoso. The launch of the single aft took place on July 20, 2004 in the Genoa shipyard, attended by President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. Sea trials began on the 18th of December 2006 and on the 27th of March 2008 the ship has been commissioned to the Italian Navy for final tests at the end those on the 10th of June 2009 has officially joint the Naval Force in full operational capability (FOC). For the Italian Navy this is an ambitious and unique project by its genre, classified aircraft carrier (CVH). The aircraft carrier Cavour, with its 244 m length and 39 m of width, capability is up to 12 helicopters and 8 aircraft. The hangar (134,2 m length) transportation capacity is up to 24 heavy vehicles like tanks or up to 50 medium amphibious type vehicles. L’ISOLANTE K-FLEX supplied the K-FLEX ECO for the insulation of the hull’s tubing and the engine room for a total of 30,000 meters of pipes and 4,500 m2 of sheets. K-FLEX ECO is the right choice for the safety energy consumption control and environmental protection.
